Projects and Progress

I have spent the past year writing. Literally, almost every single day. I spend more time writing than reading. I think about scenes and characters when I’m stuck in traffic. I write on my laptop in the car when my kids are participating in activities. Sometimes I get up at 5am just to take advantage of writing without distractions or disruptions.

I currently have three very different stories in progress! I’m putting on my big girl pants, and I’m ready to share it with you.

CASSIOPEIA - Historical Fiction

First Draft Complete

In March of 2025, I took a cruise with my mom and walked off of the ship with some new ideas for stories.

During the cruise, I would start my day at 5 am, quietly watching the sunrise and listening to my story writing music. By the time we disembarked, I had an idea for piratey story inspired by the Caribbean. Can you guess what my favorite ride at Walt Disney World is?

I wanted a story about exploration and adventure and a character who was reluctant to do both of those things because she was a woman during the Golden Age of Piracy.

DARKNESS AND STARS - Fantasy

First Draft (52 of 56 Chapters)

Some of my favorite book worlds to escape to are fantasy, but I hate how magic is often used as a convenient solution. I wanted to create my own world where magic has consequences and it’s not easily acquired.

I spent a lot of time developing my ideas. Seriously. I’ve been thinking about this story for twenty years and have made several attempts to write it. My kids were my convenient magical solution! My daughter helped me create a world with magical creatures in different regions and my son helped me use stars as a resource.

This world is filled with characters in complex situations, dangerous consequences to choices, plot twists that made my jaw drop when I wrote it, and a painfully bittersweet romance.

TO THE STARS - Contemporary Romance

First Draft (16 of 30 Chapters)

I wanted to clear my head and write something light. Something without extensive world building or historical research. Something just fun!

I live where people take their vacations and I truly appreciate that. I thought about writing something that would be an entertaining read for somebody on their Florida vacation.

With the hurricanes, rocket launches, and beaches, Florida is definately a main character. But this story is one woman’s opportunity to call this place home, adapting to the environment here, and finding where she really belongs.

✨ ✨ ✨

Wow! It feels really vulnerable to share what I have been writing. But it is my hope-wish-dream-goal that someday, someone else might enjoy reading these stories as much as I have truly enjoyed writing them.
